The Gospel Discerns the Heart

Feb 1, 2026    Kurt Aichele

The gospel is unstoppable, but it’s also discerning.

In Acts 8:9–25, the good news of Jesus breaks into Samaria with power and joy. Lives are changed. The church expands. But beneath the surface, the gospel also begins to expose hearts... revealing the difference between fascination with spiritual power and true transformation by Christ.

In this message, we explore a striking contrast between false power that dazzles and true power that delivers. We watch as the gospel advances into contested territory, unites a divided people, and lovingly confronts a heart that is close to Jesus, but not yet surrendered to Him.

This passage invites all of us to slow down and ask honest questions:

What am I really trusting? How do I respond when my heart is exposed? And where can I rest more deeply in Christ’s faithfulness?

Whether you’re a longtime follower of Jesus, a young adult wrestling with faith, or someone simply curious about Christianity, this message offers clarity, hope, and a gracious call to genuine repentance and life under the reign of Christ.

The gospel doesn’t advance because hearts are perfect, but because Jesus is faithful.
