Bought by His blood.
You already know how to drop everything.
The phone rings at two in the morning... someone you love is in the hospital, and the calendar you guarded all week simply evaporates. You don't check your availability. You grab your keys.
Paul was in a hurry. Racing to reach Jerusalem, he decided to sail right past Ephesus to save time. And then he stopped the entire journey anyway, sent word thirty miles up the coast, and waited days he didn't have — for a handful of ordinary church elders.
Why? What could possibly make a church worth that?
Paul answers the way he always does. Not with an argument. With a life poured out — and then, in a single stunning line, with a price: "the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood" (Acts 20:28).
Look at what she cost Him. Not because she's impressive. Because of the blood that bought her.
Here's the thing... most of us can spend years near a church. Glad to benefit from her. Careful never to be held by her. And some of us sit in the room quietly wondering whether anyone would notice if we stopped coming. To both, this passage says the same astonishing thing: you were bought.
You belong by blood.
Part 1 of two. Next week: the church Christ keeps.
